This course is specifically designed to give you the essential skills in wilderness survival and safety. Our one day survival course is a dynamic combination of both traditional and modern survival and safety skills. Learn what to do if you get lost or have an accident in the bush, what essential gear you should carry, how to build an emergency shelter from natural materials, light a fire with and without matches, signal for rescue, find your way with a map and a compass and much, much more!

This course will provide you with the necessary skills to:

  • Prepare and equip for wilderness adventures
  • Build shelter
  • Light fire
  • Gather water
  • Signal for rescue
  • Navigate in the wilderness with basic navigation skills

With some knowledge, basic skills and a little confidence in your own ability you can survive almost anywhere!

Wilderness Navigation

For Every Traveller

The most essential survival skill of all is to become an expert with your map and compass! By applying best practice navigation training ASM can take you there! ASM conduct both scheduled and non-scheduled Navigation Training Courses for individuals and groups. We also provide specialist training programs for organisations including Adventure Racing Teams, Scientific Expeditions, Outdoor Clubs and Military Units.

Canyoning Courses

Intermediate Canyoning Skills

Prior abseiling experience is necessary to undertake this course. We recommend undertaking our Intermediate Abseiling Skills Course first, though the Advanced Abseiling Course is even better. The greater your understanding of the basics, the more you will get out of this course!

If you want to take up canyoning as a recreational activity, or want to build upon your existing canyon skills, then this is the place to start!

This 2 Day course will make you a more useful participant in canyon expedition groups, with a focus on self management skills & hazard avoidance.

Introductory Climbing Weekend

In recent years the adventure sport of rockclimbing has become the fastest growing outdoor activity of all and our two-day beginners course is the best way for you to discover why!

Learn To Lead - Sport

Sport climbing is undoubtedly the most popular form of climbing the world over. The thrill and challenge of lead climbing, with the security of pre-placed bolts, allows the climber to push themselves both physically and mentally.
